Bloodstained
« on: September 07, 2023, 05:51:01 AM »
Figured I'd start a Bloodstained topic since the new update announcement video came out. Stuff like the multiplayer, costumes, and Chaos mode are pretty cool, but I'm most excited about Dominique's Curse. A CVII-like as an opportunity to flesh out Dominique a bit more seems like, specifically made for me :P

It's been several years and they're only just now getting to the end of their promised backer rewards and stuff so I wonder if they bit off a bit more than they could chew with that, but I'm usually excited for what does come out regardless. (I wonder if after this they'll finally be able to start development on that sequel game, lol)

Ahhh Bloodstained........ Probably one of my favorite IGAvanias, if only for the fact that it was my first proper introduction to the Castlevania series at large. It's the first and only game that I've platinum'd on Steam, then went ahead and completed everything else in the game that wasn't covered by trophies (well........ I still need to finish my Nightmare run).

As for the recent announcement, I'm glad that Bloodstained's development journey is finally coming to an end. It's been an arduous eight years since the Kickstarter first launched. My hope is that all (or at least most) of the kinks they ran into have been smoothed out now, and Bloodstained II's release will be much smoother.
Play Sea of Stars, you cowards!!!

Definitely agreed! I think if they go into the sequel game without any kickstarter-based obligations (which I think is likely, since they can fund it from the money they got from the first game rather than crowdsource it) the development will probably end up being a lot smoother. I think the issue there was that they had 100000 different stretchgoals to build hype- and a lot of them ended up being pretty cool features!- but realistically it's hard to deliver all of them in a timely manner.

Nightmare is definitely fun! I love level 1 hard modes, especially OOE's. It really makes you think out of the box about which abilities to use...
